Electronics meets digitalization
Fuhrmann's career path begins where many digital transformation projects fail: Namely, in the practicalities. As a trained electronics engineer who started out in technical service, he has first-hand experience of the day-to-day challenges faced on the shopfloor. Over the years, he has grown into a sought-after sales and business manager in the intralogistics and tool industry – most recently as a managing director for manufacturers of machining and assembly tools.
“I have seen for myself just how complex it is to operate a production line profitably and efficiently,” says Fuhrmann. This hands-on experience is something he now brings to TDM Systems with conviction – a company that, in his opinion, has for many years “been helping to shape the digital tool data room and also plays a key role in modern shopfloors."
A logical next step: choosing Tool Flow Solutions
For him, this move was a logical step: “I already worked for the Sandvik Group as Managing Director of Walter Tools Germany and so had come across TDM Systems and considered them drivers of innovation. I was impressed by how the company combines technical depth, genuine customer focus and the strategic potential of digital solutions for tool management. What’s more, digital solutions play an equally important role for both machining companies and Sandvik's portfolio." The proximity to the customer is particularly appealing to him – as is the opportunity to understand software not just as a product, but as a holistic solution that measurably improves processes: “It’s not about selling software, but about listening and understanding the needs and requirements of our customers in order to develop solutions together that truly help them progress.”

In his new role, Fuhrmann is not only responsible for the further development of the sales and marketing strategy, but also for aligning the digital product world with tomorrow’s needs. He relies on close collaboration, iterative development and an agile mindset. “I believe in early testing, instant feedback and pragmatic development. You shouldn't wait for conditions to be perfect before getting started,” says Fuhrmann. This hands-on mentality is well received at TDM Systems – and is reflected in his openness to ideas, his courage to experiment and his willingness to take on responsibility.
A clear vision for the future: Smart factory, AI and more
Fuhrmann has a clear vision of where the manufacturing industry is heading – and what role TDM Systems will play. He believes connected systems, AI-powered analyses, digital twins and sustainable processes will shape the years ahead. “To me, Tool Flow Solutions’ offerings are essential building blocks of the Smart Factory. Our solutions not only enable centralized management of tool data, but also connect different systems, boost efficiency, and create transparency across the entire production process,” he explains.
With the solutions from TFS – such as cloud-based tool data management or the manufacturer-independent tool database – he sees great potential to support companies around the world in their digital transformation. “We provide the foundation for automated, data-driven decisions – and, in turn, real competitive advantages for our customers.”
